LAHORE: Punjab Chief Secretary Azam Suleman Khan has ordered concerned authorities to make sure free movement of good transport to make available utility items for people in the province.
Azam Suleman Khan instructed the Board of Revenue members to make sure the availability of hand-wash soaps, sensitizers, masks and gloves at utility stores.
Taking to a private news channel he said journalists must be permitted to work after necessary checking and no one should be unnecessarily harassed at checkpoints in the province.
The chief secretary ordered the divisional commissioners that food hampers be given to poor families in case their breadwinners are quarantined and facilitate philanthropists also be sought for this reason.
He said the provincial government approved a contingency plan and funds to handle the challenge, adding that the upgrading of three out of eight labs will begin within seven days.
He appreciated medics for their role in the battle against coronavirus. Khan said that the supply of personal protection equipment to all health facilities will begin from Thursday. He said that authorities have prepared sanitizer and started its supply in the market.
