Australia clinched a record seventh ICC Women’s T20 World Cup title after defeating England by seven wickets in the 2026 final at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on Sunday.
After winning the toss, Australia elected to bowl and produced a disciplined performance to restrict England to 150/4 in their allotted 20 overs.
England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt led from the front with an unbeaten 58, while Freya Kemp added a quickfire 44 not out. However, Australia’s bowlers maintained tight lines and limited England’s scoring opportunities throughout the innings.
Chasing 151 for victory, Australia made light work of the target, reaching 153/3 in just 17.1 overs. Opener Beth Mooney anchored the chase with a brilliant 64, while Phoebe Litchfield provided crucial support with an aggressive 48 off 35 balls, guiding her side to a comfortable victory with nearly three overs to spare.
The triumph further underlines Australia’s dominance in women’s cricket, as they lifted their seventh Women’s T20 World Cup trophy and continued their remarkable success in major finals.
With the latest victory, Australia has now won 13 of the 15 limited-overs finals they have contested, boasting an impressive 87% success rate.
