Asim Azhar elated as his aunt becomes first female Muslim to serve as Captain in BRV
Singer Asim Azhar has expressed happiness as his aunt, Durdana Ansari, has made the nation proud by becoming the first Muslim in the world who gets ranked as a Captain.
The vocalist’s maternal aunt has made history by becoming the first Muslim and Pakistani in the world who gets ranked as a Captain by the British Royal Navy. The excited nephew Asim officially shared the news and took to Twitter to congratulate his beloved aunt.

“Today is a proud moment for not just me or my family, but for the whole nation,” began the Teriyaan singer. “Durdana Ansari OBE becomes the first Muslim & Pakistani female in the world to get ranked as a Captain of the British Royal Navy approved by the Queen, herself,” added Asim.
“I’m so proud of you Khala Jaan,” Asim gushed over his aunt before concluding his note. The former BBC current affairs producer was previously awarded an OBE by the queen and got promoted on 8th July.
Taking to social media to humbly address the celebrations and congratulations directed her way, she thanked her nephew for the kind words. Durdana is the sister of Azhar’s mother Gul-e-Raana, who is an actor and politician activist.
