PESHAWAR: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has lauded steps of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Addressing a news briefing along with Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, the federal minister said coronavirus cases have decreased drastically in the area due to the impactful efforts of the provincial government.
He felicitated the chief minister and his team for leading from the front in the time of crisis and devising comprehensive policy in this regard. He said that the spread of the virus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was on the decline and the provincial government played a vital role in achieving this.
Asad Umar appealed to the general public to cooperate with the government and follow the precautionary measures during the Eid-ul-Azha days. He advised people to use masks, maintain social distancing in cattle markets, and celebrate Eid with caution by avoiding crowded recreational places.
The minister said that Eid-ul-Azha is an important occasion but it is our responsibility to observe safety precautions to protect ourselves and those around us. He urged the public to celebrate Eid with simplicity and conduct animal sacrifice in a way that does not result in the spread of the virus.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan said the government has decided to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with simplicity this year and also urged the people to strictly follow the SOPs during Eid.
