Despite his reputation for impeccable comic timing and beloved performances, Arshad Warsi recently revealed that he views the 2004 romantic comedy Hulchul as a “bad experience.”
In an interview with The Lallantop, the actor shared that he was initially persuaded to join the film by screenwriter Neeraj Vora. Vora had promised him a role comparable to Akshay Kumar’s iconic character in the Hera Pheri franchise, which convinced Warsi to sign on.
However, Warsi soon discovered a significant discrepancy between the promised role and the reality of the script. He noted the stark difference between being a lead’s “friend” and actually being part of a lead duo.
His frustration grew upon arriving at the set, where he was presented with oversized costumes that he compared to “ladies’ nighties.”
The actor’s experience was so disappointing that he eventually resorted to wearing his own clothes for nearly half of the film’s production.
Although he remained professional and completed the project because of his prior commitment, he expressed doubt that director Priyadarshan was even aware of his dissatisfaction.
In the film, Warsi played the character Lucky Bhalla alongside an ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Suniel Shetty.
