The Government of Pakistan has confirmed the approval for the deployment of the Pakistan Army during the forthcoming series between Pakistan and India, according to media reports.
Civil armed forces will also be deployed alongside the military personnel to ensure security during the series.
The move intends to offer comprehensive security measures for players, officials, and fans as safety concerns grow during big sporting events.
The decision demonstrates the government’s determination to ensure peace and order during high-profile international events.
Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh, according to a PCB media release.
“The selection committee has named a 16-member men’s squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, with Salman Ali Agha continuing as team captain, ” the press release said.
“The squad has been selected based on players’ performances in the ongoing HBL PSL X, which concludes on 25 May. This series also marks the first assignment for newly appointed head coach Mike Hesson”, the statement reads.
All the matches will be played at the Ghaddafi Stadium Lahore, with the schedule yet to be announced.
