The Punjab government has introduced the Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar Scheme 2026 for landless farmers and low-income households, which aims to promote economic independence and reduce poverty in rural areas.
Under this scheme, eligible individuals will be provided with 3 to 5 acres of agricultural land.
According to a government announcement, the main goal of this scheme is to provide decent employment to landless people, strengthen the agricultural sector, and stabilize the rural economy.
Officials say that this initiative will not only improve the financial condition of farmers but is also expected to increase agricultural production.
Eligibility Criteria
As part of the eligibility criteria, the applicant must be a permanent resident of Punjab and must be over 18 years of age. Additionally, the applicant must be landless or have only one residential house of a maximum of 10 marla.
Preference will be given to low-income households, while government employees and their dependents will not be eligible for this scheme.
The documents required for the application include an original identity card, Punjab domicile, proof of landlessness, and a registered mobile number.
According to officials, a thorough verification of the information of the applicants will be done to ensure transparency and facilitate the real beneficiaries.
Under this scheme, up to 5 acres of land will be provided to the selected individuals on a 10-year lease, the rent of which has been fixed at only Rs 100 per acre per year.
Moreover, the government will also provide a development grant of up to Rs 50,000 per acre for the rehabilitation and cultivation of the land, which will enable farmers to make their land cultivable.
