Another transgender killed in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: An unidentified group has shot a transgender multiple times in the federal capital.
The transgender named Beenish was shot dead and left alone at sector E-11 in the federal area of Islamabad.    
This is not the first time, the incident of killing a transgender due to unknown reasons has taken place. In April, a 15-year-old Christian transgender, identified as Musa, was gang-raped and murdered by the local criminals in Faisalabad.

Another transgender woman in the northwest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was shot dead after she could not provide Rs. 1000.  Pakistani law includes provisions to protect the rights of transgender people.

In 2009, Pakistan’s Supreme Court, like other courts in South Asia, called on all provincial governments to recognize the rights of transgender people. The judgment specifically called for improved police responses to cases involving transgender people, and to ensure the rights of transgender people.
