KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday forecast a two-day monsoon spell for Karachi starting July 24 (Saturday).
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz said a low air pressure system could form in the Indian state of Rajasthan which could later cause monsoon rains in the port city.
Sindh could witness the latest spell from July 23 after it enters the province. Rain is expected in Karachi between July 24 and 26 whereas it can also affect the south-westerly sea breeze.
Heavy showers with strong winds are expected to hit the metropolis. Meanwhile, Sindh Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) earlier asked the district authorities to take precautionary measures to avoid loss of life and damage to property during rains.
The disaster management authority asked concerned institutions to complete all necessary arrangements to tackle any emergency situation.
