Authorities have imposed a complete ban on the entry of vehicles carrying sacrificial animals on motorways during Eid-ul-Adha in an effort to ensure public safety and maintain smooth traffic flow.
According to the spokesperson for the Central Region, overloaded and unfit vehicles pose a serious risk of accidents on motorways. Such vehicles will therefore be redirected to alternative and safer routes.
The spokesperson stated that several serious accidents involving animal-laden vehicles have occurred in previous years, prompting the authorities to enforce the restriction.
The move aims to prevent road accidents and improve overall traffic management during the festive season.
Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have also been instructed to establish check posts at motorway entry points to enforce the ban effectively.
Authorities further warned that strict action would be taken against illegal parking around cattle markets and motorway interchanges. Legal action will also be initiated against violations of traffic regulations and loading standards.
Meanwhile, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow for the sighting of the Dhu al-Hijjah moon.
According to astronomical experts, there is a strong possibility that the moon will be sighted, making Eid-ul-Adha likely to fall on 27 May.
