LAHORE: Singer and actor Ali Zafar has released the music video for his latest song “Shiddat”, blending fine arts and artificial intelligence to transform a painting he created more than two decades ago into a cinematic visual experience.
The song is part of his album Roshni and draws inspiration from a thesis painting Zafar produced in 2002 while studying fine arts at the National College of Arts. The newly released video reimagines that artwork through AI-powered virtual production while preserving the emotional tone, colour palette and visual essence of the original canvas.
Directed by Fawaz Rehan and Ayla Asim, the project presents themes of love, solitude, memories and emotional conflict through surreal and dreamlike imagery. According to the production team, each frame of the video was generated with the assistance of artificial intelligence technology, creating a visually immersive narrative.
Speaking about the project, Zafar described “Shiddat” as more than a conventional music video, calling it a reflection of his artistic evolution as a painter, musician and storyteller. He said the project aimed to merge painting, music, cinema and AI into a single artistic expression.
Experts believe the release of this music video highlights the growing use of artificial intelligence in Pakistan’s creative industry, particularly in music and visual storytelling, where artists are increasingly experimenting with digital tools to expand traditional forms of expression.
