KARACHI: An Afghan national, trying to travel abroad illegally, was arrested on Tuesday from Jinnah International Airport. A case has been registered against him. The accused forged documents with the help of a Pakistani agent.
According to sources, FIA Immigration caught an Afghan nation red-handed in another successful operation, who was trying to travel abroad on fake documents.
The accused, named Mohammad Haroon, became a part of the family tree of a Pakistani family. The accused had come to Pakistan from Afghanistan a month and a half ago and took up residence in Khanewal, Punjab, and received national identity card by posing as a resident.
Jamil, a Lahore based agent, had received Rs6 lakh from the accused, sources said.
It should be noted that this is the 11th operation of Karachi Airport Immigration against foreigners since June 10 on the instructions of senior officials.
During 18 days of checking, 3 Iranian nationals and 8 Afghan nationals were prevented from going abroad on Pakistani documents.
The FIA took action against 11 passengers in 18 days. According to FIA officials, during the period from June 10 to June 27, 3 Iranians and 8 Afghans were arrested for going abroad on fake documents.
The said passengers wanted to go abroad on Pakistani documents which were seized and all 11 passengers have been transferred to passport cell for further legal action.
