ISLAMABAD: The media wing of the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) had been allegedly involved in receiving massive commissions from advertisements.

The PARC, which works under the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, receives advance commission of 7-10 percent from advertising agencies or else they risk being blacklisted.

Sources have revealed a massive scam regarding awarding advertisement on Defence Day observed on 6th September. Public Relations Officer (PRO) Ghulam Shabir told advertisers that the ads for Defence Day will only to awarded to selected agencies on the instructions of joint secretary and Chairman Dr Muhammad Azeem Khan.

The PRO allegedly receives commissions from these advertising agencies which not only affect the image of the institute but also impacts the competitive process in awarding advertisements.

The officers at the regional office of PARC including the chairman spent half of the commission’s on expenditures to give the impression that the ministry is also in receiving its due share.

Sources revealed that PRO receives the commission under the patronage of the chairman. This is also affecting the image of the federal minister Fakhar Imam and also the provision of agricultural research information in the country.
