SHEIKHUPURA: A tragic incident of alleged sexual assault of a 22-year-old disabled woman has been reported from Kotwar area, within the jurisdiction of Mananwala Police Station in Sheikhupura.
According to media reports, the victim, who is reportedly disabled in both legs and her right arm and earns her livelihood by begging outside Darbar Sain Murad, was allegedly taken to a deserted area by a man identified as Tayyab son of Munawar, where he allegedly assaulted her.
Following the incident, Mananwala police registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s aunt and have taken the nominated accused into custody. Police officials said further investigation into the case has been initiated.
Meanwhile, locals and people familiar with the matter have demanded a thorough investigation, stating that the possible involvement of other individuals should not be ruled out. They urged the police to investigate the case from all angles and bring any facilitators or other accomplices to justice if their role is established.
