ISLAMABAD: Pakistan recorded nearly two thousand cases from the novel coronavirus on Sunday, as the positivity ratio keeps rising amid a worsening situation.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), Pakistan reported 1,980 cases and 27 deaths in the previous 24-hour period. The national tally of coronavirus cases has reached 973,284 while the death toll stands at 22,582
The positivity ratio was recorded at 4.09% in the previous day, making it the highest since May 30. There are 2,119 people in critical condition including 70 more in the previous day.
There were 48,382 tests conducted in the past day. The number of active cases in the country has also once again increased to 37,499 with the new cases. Overall 913,203 people have recovered from the virus, including 908 in the past day.
Punjab has recorded 348,085 cases and 10,819 deaths, while the number of active cases in the province has reached 8,499. Islamabad has recorded 83,647 cases and 783 deaths while there are 1,586 active cases in the federal capital.
Sindh has recorded 346,360 cases and 5,599 deaths. The province has seen a spike a cases rises and the number of active cases has increased to 23,350. The number of cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stands at 139,313 and 4,359 deaths while Balochistan has recorded 27,961 cases and 317 deaths.
