KP, Balochistan to present annual budget 2021-22 today

PESHAWAR: The governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan will present the annual budget 2021-22 in their respective provincial assemblies today on Friday (today).

KP Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra will present the provincial budget for the next fiscal year 2021-22 in the provincial assembly at 03:00 PM.

The outlay of the provincial budget would be over Rs1,000 billion. The government would propose 25% increase in salaries of employees from Grade 1 to 19 while salaries of above Grade 19 officers will be increased by 10%.

The Annual Development Plan (ADP)-for the province has been proposed at Rs205 billion for the next fiscal year. The government has proposed Rs350bn expenditures for the development sector in the provincial budget.

The government has allocated funds for Rescue 1122 new ambulances and will also announce the recruitment of new teachers. The minimum wage is also expected to be raised to Rs21,000.

Separately, the Balochistan government will also present its budget for the fiscal year 2021-22 worth more than Rs500 billion.

Finance Minister Balochistan Zahoor Ahmed Buledi will present the budget proposals n the provincial assembly in Quetta at 04:00PM.

The provincial government will maintain development outlay of over Rs138 billion and the total budgeted expenditures is more than Rs370 billion. It is likely to allocate Rs90 billion for education and Rs60 billion for law and order.

The federal government announced the annual budget 2021-222 on June 11 followed the governments of Punjab and Sindh with no additional taxes.

Earlier this week, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah presented the budget for the next fiscal year 2021-22 in the Sindh Assembly.

The outlay of the deficit budget for the southeast province is estimated at Rs1.477 trillion, witnessing a surge of around 19.1 percent from last year.

The development outlay for the budget is estimated at Rs329 billion. The chief minister also announced 25 percent increase in salaries of the government employees besides increasing the minimum wage to Rs25,000.
