MUMBAI: Pakistani famous drama ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’ featuring Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed is again available for Indian audiences on popular demand.
After almost five years, the popular romantic drama has returned to television which made the Pakistani actors famous in India. In India, the show was first aired on the now defunct Zindagi channel in 2013. Now, Zee TV has decided to telecast the show on popular demand of the audience.
Zee TV took to Twitter and announced the re-run of the Pakistani show. , citing that the show is airing “on demand”.

In 2016, several film bodies called for boycotting Pakistani artistes from working in Indian films and music Fawad’s film ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ was embroiled in controversy, while Pakistani dramas were dropped from channels.

Fawad Khan rose to unprecedented fame in India after both ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’ and ‘Humsafar’ premiered in 2014. In ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’, Fawad has played the role of Zaroon Junaid, while Sanam has played the role of Kashaf Murtaza , who are poles apart but they fall in love.
Zaroon hails from an affluent family. He yearns for his mother’s love, who hardly had time for the family. Kashaf along with her two sisters is raised by her single mother as her father abandoned them.

Zaroon’s male entitlement is challenged by Sanam Saeed’s Kashaf Murtaza, whose life has been anything but easy as she grew up facing both gender and class inequality.
The show, directed by Sultana Siddiqui and based on Umera Ahmed’s novel of the same name, first aired on Pakistani television in 2012. Though there is no official ban, Pakistani artistes have been barred from working in Indian films and music after an attack in held Kashmir.
