RAWALPINDI: The US Charge d’ Affairs to Pakistan Angela Aggeler called on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed matters pertaining to mutual interest especially the Afghan peace process.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday, matters pertaining to mutual interest, overall regional security situation including recent developments in the Afghan peace process came under discussion during the meeting.
Pakistan-US bilateral cooperation in various fields was also discussed in the meeting.
The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s sincere efforts for bringing peace and stability in the region, especially the Afghan peace process.
On May 10, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa had discussed the Afghan peace process and regional security with the United Kingdom’s Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) General Sir Nicholas Patrick Carter.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Sir Nicholas Patrick Carter, UK’s military chief, called on Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi today (Monday).
“Measures to further enhance bilateral and defence cooperation were also discussed in the meeting,” the military’s media wing added. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for peace and stability in the region, especially the Afghan peace process.
During the meeting, COAS Bajwa offered his condolences to the UK military chief on the sad demise of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and said that the world has lost a highly respected friend.
The COAS also thanked the dignitary for UK’s contribution towards the fight against COVID-19 in Pakistan, saying that the Pakistan Army “greatly values” its friendly relations with the UK.
