ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed satisfaction over the performance of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Punjab Anti-Corruption Department in the recovery of plundered wealth.
In a series of tweets, the prime minister said both institutions were performing much better under his government in comparison to the “dismal record of PMLN government’s 10 years”.
“The difference in anti-corruption department Punjab’s performance during the PTI govt & the PML-N’s 10 years is clearly visible in the results achieved so far,” tweeted the prime minister.
He said Punjab anti-corruption department has recovered Rs220 billion in the last 31 months of the present government. He regretted that the performance of the department was dismal in the ten years of PML-N government.
The prime minister said state land worth Rs192 billion have so far been recovered as compared to Rs2.6 billion worth of state land recovery under the PML-N.

PM Imran Khan said cash recovery in our tenure is Rs2.35 billion as compared to only Rs430 million in the ten years of the PML-N regime. “Cash recovery is Rs2.35bn as compared to only Rs430mn during PML-N’s 10 years. Indirect cash recovery now stands at Rs26bn in contrast to zero during the PML-N’s last 10 years,” he added.
He pointed out that the same contrast is there in the performance of NAB. He said the anti-graft body has recovered Rs484 billion between 2018-2020 of the present government, as compared to only Rs290 billion recovered between1999-2017.
He said results are achieved when government does not protect criminals and allows accountability to work without interference.
“When the government doesn’t protect criminals and allows accountability to work without interference, results [are] achieved,” he concluded.
