Turkish President lauds Pakistan’s unflinching support to Palestine

ANKARA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a meeting with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, appreciated Pakistan’s unflinching support to oppressed Palestine people.

The Foreign Minister called on the Turkish President at the presidential palace in Ankara today (Wednesday) to discuss the crisis in the Middle East. FM Qureshi is in Turkey on special instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan to highlight Israeli aggression.

From Ankara, he will leave for New York along with foreign ministers of Sudan, Palestine and Turkey to participate in a meeting of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on the Palestine crisis.

During the meeting with President Erdogan, the foreign minister discussed issues related to bilateral relations and the situation in Palestine. He also praised Erdogan’s clear and unequivocal position on Kashmir and Palestine.

President Erdogan said, “Turkey appreciates Pakistan’s position and efforts in favour of oppressed Palestinians.” While discussing the bilateral relations, Erdogan said, “Turkey will host the seventh meeting of Pakistan-Turkey high-level strategic cooperation council.”

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in Ankara and discussed ways to mobilise the international community to help stop Israeli aggression against the Palestinians.

During the meeting, it was reaffirmed that the international community had a collective responsibility in ensuring necessary steps to help address the dire situation, restore peace, and facilitate a just solution.
