ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Day parade has been postponed due to forecast of “inclement weather and rain” over the next two days in the federal capital.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the parade will now be held on March 25 “The Joint Services Pakistan Day Parade will now be held on 25th March, 2021 as per program and timings already specified,” said a statement by the military’s media wing.
The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) was expected to decide whether to hold the Pakistan Day parade due to the rising number of coronavirus cases in the country and the federal capital.
In a meeting on Monday, the NCOC decided to tighten the restrictions amid the deteriorating coronavirus situation across the country.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Twitter said: “In the NCOC meeting this morning we decided to increase restrictions of activities contributing to a sharp increase in COVID-19 positivity.”
The minister said the local administrations across the country have been directed to tighten the implementation of SOP’s and crackdown on violations. Pakistan is currently grappling with the third wave of coronavirus which is said to be more lethal and dangerous by the health authorities.
