Most-wanted dacoit gang nabbed in Karachi

KARACHI: The district police have arrested a four-member gang of dacoits during a raid in Karachi’s Quaidabad area, a police official said on Saturday.

Talking to journalists, Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Malir Irfan Bahadur said the gang of dacoits was busted during a raid on tip-off near Mehran Highway.

The arrested accused, identified as Riaz, Hameed, Imroz and Saifullah, were involved in various cases of street crimes and dacoity. Police registered cases against the alleged criminals and have started an investigation.

The SSP Malir informed that eight cases had already been registered against the gang members in different police stations. “The raid team has also recovered weapons and stolen items from the possession of arrested accused,” he added.

Meanwhile, two dacoits were injured in firing by a citizen during looting in Karachi’s Shah Latif Town. According to details, the two accused came to commit robbery at an Estate Agency. The owner opened fire on the accused, injuring both the accused.

One of the injured accused died while another was shifted to hospital in critical condition. Two pistols were recovered from the accused.
