RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Pakistan values its strong diplomatic, economic and defense relations with the kingdom of Bahrain.
According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday, Commander of the National Guard of the Kingdom of Bahrain General Sheikh Mohamed Bin Isa Al-Khalifa called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
Speaking on the occasion, the COAS said that Pakistan values its strong diplomatic, economic, and defense relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain. Both reiterated the desire to further enhance bilateral cooperation including efforts for peace and security in the region.
The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s positive role in regional peace & stability. matters pertaining to mutual interest, regional security especially the Afghan peace process, and measures to further enhance professional cooperation between both the armies came under discussion during the meeting, ISPR further said.
Earlier, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa arrived in Bahrain where he held meetings with military leaders and discussed issues of mutual interest and regional security situation.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations, the army chief held one-on-one meetings with Commander Bahrain National Guard Field Marshal Mohammed Bin Isa Al Khalifa and Bahrain National Security Adviser Major General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa during his visit to Bahrain.
They discussed the regional security situation and matters of mutual interest. The COAS offered Pakistan’s complete support in achieving shared interests in bilateral security cooperation including training and capacity building.
Later, delegation-level talks were also held where current developments in the Afghan peace process, border security and necessary steps to be undertaken to facilitate an Afghan peace process were discussed.
