LAHORE: The left eye of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s aide on political communications, Dr Shahbaz Gill, has been infected due to the ink thrown by PML-N political activists, doctors said after a medical test.
Gill was attacked with eggs and ink by PML-N political activists when he arrived at the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday. The special assistant subsequently went for a check-up at Lahore’s Mayo Hospital, where doctors told him the chemical in the ink had caused an infection in his left eye.
Doctors at Lahore’s Mayo Hospital bandaged Gill’s eye after treatment. During the attack earlier in the day, the ink had been smeared on the hand and forehead of the premier’s aide which was denounced by several political leaders.
PTI leader and Maritime Affairs Minister Ali Zaidi said “The pathetic deplorable ink and egg attack against @SHABAZGIL outside of LHC by PMLN workers is just another example of rowdyism by PMLN.” “This kind of behavior has no place in Pakistan politics anymore,” the PTI leader tweeted.

Meanwhile, Sindh Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has strongly deplored the incident of throwing ink and eggs on Shahbaz Gill in the premises of Lahore High Court and said that there was no space for such attitudes in politics.
The provincial minister said that though Shahbaz Gill was their political opponent, however, such incidents could not be encouraged. Shah said that it was a glimpse of political culture promoted by Khan Sahab in the country.
He said that they had kept advising Khan Sahib not to go beyond the limits, although no attention was paid to it. Shah further said that the incident of throwing ink and eggs on Shahbaz Gill was the result of PTI’s training to its people who regularly make personal attacks on the leadership of political opponents.
Shah urged PM Imran Khan to discourage personal attacks and violent attitudes in politics. “Pakistan is most important. If such attitudes continue, no one will be safe,” he concluded.
