KARACHI: Two terrorists were arrested in injured condition after an exchange of fire with the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officials in Sukkur but later succumbed to their wounds.
CTD in-charge Mazhar Shahwani said the law-enforcement agency conducted a raid after receiving a tip-off within the limits of the Patni police station in Sukkur to arrest two terrorists of the proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)
After an exchange of fire, the terrorists were arrested in injured condition by the CTD’s raiding team. They were shifted to a hospital immediately by succumbed to their wounds during treatment. The terrorists were identified as Wilayat and Shah Mehmood.
On February 22, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Sindh police claimed to have arrested a terrorist affiliated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM-London) from Karachi.
SSP CTD Arif Aziz said the suspect Wahid Hussian alias Guddu was arrested during their raid in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of the city. Police also recovered a hand grenade from his possession. He further claimed that the arrested suspect was part of the MQM London and is an associate of another terrorist identified as Saleem aka Saleem Belgium.
He said the arrested terrorist used to provide weapons to the party’s workers on the orders of Saleem Belgium. Both of them were involved in terror acts and illegal transfer of money through hawala and hundi methods. The suspect has confessed his involvement in separate incidents of arson, violence and other criminal activities.
