ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in a case related to provocative speeches and treason has ordered to block the National Computerized Identity Cards (CNICs) of Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM), leaders Manzoor Pashteen and Mohsin Dawar.

According to details, during the hearing of a case related to provocative speeches and treason on Friday, the ATC instructed authorities concerned to block CNICs of both the fugitives and present the report in the court.

Both the leaders,  Manzoor Pashteen and Mohsin Dawar were declared fugitives in the case, after their continued non-appearance before the court. Further hearing of the case was adjourned until March 9.

It is worth mentioning here PTM chief Manzoor Pashteen and Mohsin Dawar are named in treason cases and provoking the masses against the state through their hate speeches. The PTM, formerly the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement, gained momentum following the extra-judicial murder of Naqeebullah Mehsud in Karachi on 3 March 2020.

Earlier in May 2019, a first information report (FIR) was registered against PTM workers for allegedly attacking a military checkpoint at Kharqamar in North Waziristan. Thirteen people were killed and multiple were injured when the clash took place.

Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir, along with the supporters, were going to protest in the area when they were stopped by security forces at the Kharqamar check post, resulting in the deadly crash.

In this regard, Mohsin Dawar, Ali Wazir, and other PTM members were nominated in the case along with others under different sections of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The case, which was being heard by an anti-terrorism court in Bannu, was transferred to an ATC in Abbottabad. On March 16, the provincial government filed a petition, requesting the court that it wanted to withdraw the case.
