ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has approved an inquiry against former interior minister and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal for allegedly possessing assets beyond known means of income.
Chairman NAB Justice retired Javeed Iqbal has authorised the inquiry against the PML-N leader and tasked the Rawalpindi Bureau of the anti-corruption watchdog to investigate this case.
The sources said that the Rawalpindi Bureau has sought the details of Ahsan Iqbal and his family members’ bank and asset details from State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
The bureau will summon him for recording his statement in this case after receiving bank and asset details.
Ahsan Iqbal has already been summoned earlier by the NAB over his alleged involvement in the misappropriation of government funds in Narowal Sports City Complex.
The documents stated that Iqbal inflicted billions of rupees worth loss to the national treasury. He was accused of illegally initiating the project of Rs3 billion in Narowal and causing a loss of billions of rupees to the state exchequer.
