ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday said that the human chain, formed to express solidarity with people of occupied Kashmir, will break the shackles of siege.

Talking to media after formation of the human chain, the special assistant said the prime minister has reiterated that Pakistan will always raise voice of oppressed people of occupied Kashmir, and will fulfill his promise to present the case of Kashmir before the world community.

Dr Awan said the prime minister has urged the world leaders and international media to play their due role on the issue of Kashmir. She thanked the media and public for participating in the human chain and expressing solidarity for Kashmiris.

She added the prime minister’s participation in the human chain to express solidarity with the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir is testimony to the fact that he will continue to fight the case of innocent Kashmiris at every forum of the world till realisation of their right to self-determination.

Earlier, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan says China has rejected Indian narrative by declaring Kashmir a disputed area.

In a series of tweets, she said the stance of a permanent member state of the UN Security Council is the manifestation of solidarity with the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir and it depicts great friendship of the ‘Iron Brothers’. She thanked the Chinese leadership and public for strong support to oppressed people of held Kashmir.

The curfew in occupied Kashmir has entered its 68th consecutive day as people living in the restive region continue to face severe hardships due to the crippling clampdown and communication blockade.

The valley faces an acute shortage of essential commodities including food and medicines due restrictions and shutdown, creating hardship for local people to know about their families and relatives living within the territory as most communication networks have been disconnected and public transport is unavailable.
