ISLAMABAD: Former Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Fasih Bokhari passed away in Islamabad.
According to the Director-General Public Relations Pakistan Navy, incumbent Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi extended his condolences on the demise of Admiral Fasih Bokhari. He hailed his services for the navy and prayed for the departed soul.
Admiral Fasih was a retired four-star rank admiral in the Pakistan Navy, who served as the Chief of Naval Staff after taking over command in 1997 until his resignation in 1999.
In 1959, he was commissioned in the Pakistan Navy as a Midshipman and was sent to the Britannia Royal Naval College in the United Kingdom to complete his training. Upon returning to Pakistan in 1962, he was promoted as a sub-lieutenant and was inducted in the Submarine Command as a navigation officer.
He served in PNS Ghazi completed a short training on submarine operations at the Naval Academy in Turkey. In 2011, Bokhari was appointed as the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau by then President Asif Zardari. The appointment was declared null and void by the Supreme Court in May 2013.
