ISLAMABAD: The occupation of public lands continues in the federal capital allegedly in connivance with police and other institutions as the victims have urged the prime minister to take action.
Raja Shahid, a resident on Phulgran in Bhara Kahu, told MM News that he bought a 150 kanal plot from Raja Salman and Raja Ishrat and has possession for the last two months and has started construction. However, three days ago over 50 armed men trespassed his property, jumped over the gate, and started aerial firing at the labourers, threatening to kill them if they did not vacate the lands.
He said Station House Officer (SHO) Bara Kahu also arrived at the scene with the land occupiers and told the labourers to stop working or they would be killed. One labourer was also severely tortured, while another was kidnapped and is yet to be recovered. He said the gate at the plot and an under-construction room was also destroyed and the glasses of heavy machinery were damaged.
Raja Shahid disclosed that the police have allegedly received Rs20 million to vacate the valuable land, while authorities including staff at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office are involved. He said the criminals are highly influential and are backed by former PML-N MNA Anjum Aqeel and want possession of his land.
He said that he had called the police helpline to lodge a complaint about the firing incident. Local residents including elderly women and their neighbours were also present when the incident occurred. However, he said police did not include Section 109 (Punishment of abetment) and Section 452 (House Trespass for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) to provide relief to the perpetrators.
He said police lodged a case against him and his partners, clearly indicating that police is backing the criminals. He urged to be provided justice and action should be taken against the criminals and police harassment.
