KARACHI: The novel COVID-19 has claimed five more lives and infected at least 239 people during the past 24 hours in Sindh province.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday said that 239 cases of COVID-19 detected in the last 24 hours in the province after 9094 samples were tested.
In a statement, the chief minister said that five more patients of novel coronavirus died in 24 hours increasing the death toll to 2579 in the province. Murad Ali Shah said that 180 more patients of the coronavirus recovered.
Presently, 4460 patients have been under treatment across the province, Chief Minister Shah added. The chief minister urged the people of the province to observe SOPs strictly.
It may be recalled that 17 more people have died in Pakistan due to the coronavirus and the total number of deaths has reached 6,638 today.
According to the National Command and Operations Center, 641 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the last 24 hours and the total number has reached 322,452. In Pakistan, 9,174 patients of coronavirus are undergoing treatment, and 36,640 have recovered.
The coronavirus has killed 2,288 people in Punjab and 2,574 in Sindh. The death toll in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has risen to 1,265, 194 in Islamabad, 146 in Balochistan, 90 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 81 in Azad Kashmir.
Around 306,640 people have recovered from the disease so far across Pakistan with the addition of 805 recoveries recorded over the previous 24 hours. There are a total of 9,174 active cases of Covid-19 in the country. Of the total patients under treatment, 567 are said to be in critical condition.
