ISLAMABAD: Illegal occupation continued in Islamabad’s Green Belt area under the alleged patronage of Capital Development Authority (CDA).

According to details, with the alleged connivance of the CDA’s Enforcement Department and Municipal Administration Directorate (DMA), the land mafia has illegally occupied state lands near the green belt area.

Each sector of Islamabad has been divided along with large green spaces that keep the environment free from pollution and provide oxygen to the residents. However, the land mafia, by occupying state land and setting up parking lots, shops, and small hotels there, has been violating the rules regarding the protection of green belts.

Sources have informed that the land mafia has build shops, illegal markets, and parking in Sector G9, I9, G10, Roll Area, Khanna Bridge, and other areas of Islamabad. Citizens are suffering due to illegal encroachments in various places.

In this regard, relevant sources have revealed that some senior officials and employees are receiving millions of rupees as bribe on a monthly basis. Meanwhile, the CDA officials have blamed the district administration and the police for not extending cooperation with CDA’s enforcement staff during operations against encroachment.
