KARACHI: The matter of skulls and humans remains recovered from a garbage dump in Defence Housing Authority has been resolved.

Medico-legal officer Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) Dr Sikandar Azam released a report saying the bones were used for “study purposes” by medical students. The report said some of the bones have pencil and marker marks as well and there was no fracture on any bone.

According to police, the bones were found near a garbage dump in Phase I area of DHA, Karachi. It included three damaged skulls, ribs and other parts of the human skeleton. District South Police handed them over to JPMC for medical examination.

On Sunday, seven human bones including skulls were recovered near an under-construction bungalow located in Karachi’s Defence area.

A heavy contingent of police has reached the spot. Police said someone from the neighbourhood informed the police about the presence of bones. Police officials said that human bones were found near a house and seemed to be buried many years ago.

Earlier in 2019, human bones were recovered from Karachi’s famous Annu Bhai Park in the city’s Nazimabad area.

SSP Arif Saleem Rao told that human bones were recovered during an excavation near the park. “Human bones are separated from bodies during surgeries and operations from different parts of sugar patients,” SSP Rao added. Police said the caretaker informed them about the bones.
