KARACHI: Pakistan Coastguards continued operation against smuggling and illegal trade and seized a large number of narcotics and other prohibited substances.
During the last two weeks during patrolling, three kilograms of heroin hidden in the bushes was recovered near Winder city in Balochistan.
During a search operation at Naka Khari checkpost, 950 kg of betelnuts, 3,302 packets of smuggled Indian gutka, 92 tyres, imported cigarettes and other prohibited items were seized. A passenger coach was checked during which 196 mobile phones and 16 tablet devices were recovered.
Coastguards also seized illegally smuggled Iranian diesel during mobile patrolling in Daam area near Winder. All the confiscated items have been in custody and further investigation is underway.
Pakistan Coastguard is taking legal action the seized items whose worth is estimated to be around Rs112 million. The Coastguard reiterated that such operations will continue in the future to rid the country of the menace of smuggling and make full use of all available resources to achieve this goal.
