Decision to reopen educational institutes to be taken today

ISLAMABAD: The decision to reopen or close educational institutes across the country from 15th September will be taken today.

In this regard, a meeting of inter-provincial education ministers has been convened under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood.

The meeting will be attended by all the provincial education ministers while health ministry officials will give a briefing on the coronavirus. The meeting will finalize the standard operating procedure (SOP) in educational institutions.

The high-ups will also hold discussion over the short-term academic syllabus for the schools, colleges, and universities besides reviewing the plans for conducting examinations in 2021.

According to the agenda, the participants of the meeting will also approve recommendations for BSCS and NCHD transition plan.

Moreover, the meeting will consult provinces over the establishment of anti-harassment bodies by the Federal Directorate of Education and the introduction of a uniform curriculum.

Earlier, Shafqat Mahmood had dismissed rumours that schools will remain closed till October. He said that education ministers will meet on 7th September to decide whether educational institutions will reopen.
