COAS Bajwa warns nation of hybrid warfare to discredit country

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has warned the nation of ‘fifth generation’ and ‘hybrid war’, which aims to discredit the country and the armed forces and to spread chaos.

He expressed these views while addressing an investiture ceremony on the occasion of Defence day held at the Army’s General Headquarters in Rawalpindi today (Sunday).

“On this occasion, I would like to divert your attention to another challenge. This challenge has been imposed on us through the fifth generation or hybrid war,” he added.

However, the Chief of Army Staff vowed that Pakistan’s military will certainly win ‘fifth generation’ or ‘hybrid war’ with the cooperation of the nation.

During the ceremony, General conferred military awards to Army personnel for acts of gallantry during various operations. Almost 40 officers were awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, 24 were given Tamgha-e-Basalat and a soldier was awarded the United Nations medal.

On the occasion, Gen Bajwa further said that September 6 reminds us that we had defeated an enemy bigger than us on this day. “We are still protecting the country’s freedom with their blood,” he added.

COAS Bajwa also said that Pakistan seeks peace in the region and the country’s key efforts in Afghanistan were a testament to the fact. “However, India has adopted an irresponsible attitude,” he remarked.

“New Delhi took the illegal step of ending the special status of occupied Kashmir. Pakistan does not accept any such unilateral decision of the Indian government,” he asserted.

He said, “Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah Pakistan does not accept “any such unilateral decision” of the Indian government. We do not accept any unilateral decision related to Kashmir.”

He also warned India that Pakistan would not be intimidated by stockpiling of newly acquired weapons by New Delhi. “Pakistan’s military is fully equipped, vigilant and aware,” noted General Bajwa.

He also highlighted the Balakot attack, earlier this February. In this regard, he said, “Pakistan was a living reality; our blood, passion, action will provide proof of this on every front.”
