KARACHI: Pakistani batsman Asif Ali has been fined 20 percent of his match fee over swinging his bat in the direction of Keemo Paul during Jamaica Tallawahs’ Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
During Tallawahs chase, Asif was dismissed for just three in the 8th over after top-edging off Paul straight into the hands of Chris Green at long-on. The 28-year-old’s bizarre manner also shocked the commentators. After his actions, Paul once again turned and confronted Asif.
The incident was adjudged to have breached the CPL’s code of conduct. Ali has been charged under section 2.18 having been deemed to be acting contrary to the spirit of the game. Ali has been charged under section 2.18 having been deemed to be “acting contrary to the spirit of the game”.
He has since featured against Barbados Tridents and is likely to be involved again when the Tallawahs face St Kitts and Nevis Patriots on Saturday.
