ISLAMABAD: Dr. Zafar Mirza, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health said on Thursday that 12,500 dengue cases had been confirmed across Pakistan.

Dr. Mirza while briefing the National Assembly Standing Committee on National Health Services highlighted that Bangladesh this year had topped in dengue cases.

The meeting was being presided over by the Chairman of the Committee on National Health Services, Khalid Hussain Magsi. Mr. Magsi inquired about the diseases to which Dr. Mirza responded that the medical services have made arrangements to curb the diseases but he complained about reactory policy of the health departments.

Dr. Mirza said 49 percent cases had been reported from Potohar plateau. “We have made arrangements to curb the disease but it is a fact that departments wake up when the situation becomes worse”.
