FM Qureshi welcomes Qatar’s role in Afghan peace process

ISLAMABAD: Qatar’s Ambassador Sheikh Saoud bin Abdul Rehman Al-Thani paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
The foreign minister congratulated the ambassador on assuming his responsibilities and assured him of the ministry’s cooperation and support. He appreciated the measures taken by Qatar to curtail the spread of COVID-19 and reduce its impact.
While appreciating the close fraternal ties between Pakistan and Qatar, the foreign minister discussed ways and means of enhancing the existing economic cooperation, investment in food security and other sectors.
He also underscored the important role played by Qatar in the Afghan Peace Process. They also exchanged views on regional and global developments.
The ambassador conveyed warm greetings from the Qatari leadership to the Pakistani leadership. He discussed Qatar’s plan to enhance bilateral cooperation in myriad fields and undertake educational projects in Pakistan.
He also conveyed Qatar’s interest in enhanced investments in Pakistan. Highlighting the excellent relationship between the leadership of the two countries, the ambassador underlined that Qatar would continue to work with Pakistan for further strengthening bilateral relations.
