ISLAMABAD: A total of 634 new coronavirus cases and eight associated deaths were reported, taking the national tally of infections to 284,121 and fatalities to 6,082, while 259,604 corona patients have recovered across the country during the last 24 hours.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), as many as 23,390 samples were tested for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours, out of which 634 turned out to be positive.
Of the total coronavirus patients, 260,248 have recovered from the disease so far as the number of active cases stands at 17,791. Out of the 1,859 ventilators earmarked for critically-ill patients, only 153 are occupied.
As per NCOC data, over 2.1 million tests have been carried out across the country thus far, leading to the emergence of 284,121 positive cases.
Earlier, the Punjab government had notified to lift a complete lockdown in the province from Sunday midnight, however, smart lockdown will remain in place in the province amid COVID-19 outbreak.
The notification issued by Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Captain (retd) Muhammad Usman asked all relevant authorities to ensure complete implementation on the fresh directives.
All business centers will remain open in the province five times a day from Monday to Friday during 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, the provincial health department said further allowing operations of grocery shops from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm during the entire week.
