President Alvi summons joint session of parliament

ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi has summoned a joint session of parliament today under Article 54 (1) of the Constitution.

According to details, the joint session will be held at 5:00 pm at Parliament House Islamabad to discuss important legislation. The House will pass a resolution to express solidarity with the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Reportedly, the bills submitted by the National Assembly to the joint sitting of Parliament include increasing the number of judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), FATF, Pakistan Medical Tribunal Bill, Mutual Legal Assistance Bill, Federal Public Service Commission Bill, Human Rights Bill and Companies Amendment Bill.

Earlier this week, President Dr. Arif Alvi demanded that changes made in Indian occupied Kashmir in violation of United Nations resolutions should be reversed. The president called upon the United Nations to fulfill its promises regarding the resolution of the long-standing Kashmir dispute.

He stressed that Pakistan has always strived for peace despite Indian provocations. He said India violated Pakistani airspace but still, they returned captured Indian airforce pilot to show to the world and India they want peace not war.
