ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan today (Thursday) has reiterated that the promotion of the construction industry was the one of the government’s topmost priorities.
The statement came while presiding over the weekly meeting of the National Coordination Committee for Housing, Construction, and Development in Islamabad. The meeting was attended by a delegation of the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister said that the federal government promoted the construction industry to minimize adverse impacts of coronavirus pandemic on the national economy, and create job opportunities in the country.
The premier assured that all possible facilities were being provided to the construction industry. “Business community should take full advantage of the provided incentives,” he remarked.
In this regard, PM Imran asked the business community to invest in the construction industry and assured them all possible cooperation from the government.
The premier also directed all Chief Secretaries to take stern action against government officials who are creating hurdles in fulfilling government priorities.
The meeting reviewed the incentives provided by the federal government and the progress of activities after the government’s announcements for the construction industry.
The builders’ delegation assured the meeting to start various projects within four months, which will create economic activities worth 1370 billion rupees. “The projects include the construction of about 100,000 residential units in the country,” the delegation added.
The Prime Minister also lauded the initiative of launching Web Portal by Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces to streamline the application process for NOCs and other approvals.
PM Imran further directed the concerned authorities to provide a one-window facility and similar portal in other provinces including AJK and Gilgit Baltistan.
“The helpline at the federal level should ensure timely provision of facilities like electricity and gas in the new housing units, housing colonies, and commercial buildings,” PM Imran concluded.
