LAHORE: A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking a ban on popular Chinese social media app TikTok in Pakistan.
Advocate Nadeem Sarwar filed the petition in the court in which he stated that the TikTok is not only disastrous for the younger generation but also it’s leading to wastage of time and money but and also peddling vulgarity.
Moreover, he submitted acts of blackmailing and harassment is on the rise because of TikTok. “If not banned, it would prove to be harmful to the country’s social fabric,” he added.
Therefore, he pleaded with the high court issued directives for the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to impose a permanent ban on the use of TikTok in the country.
TikTok officially crossed 2 billion downloads within five months. The app gained the title of ‘most downloads for any app ever in a quarter,’ after crossing 2 million downloads.
