ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved the launch of the “Corona Relief Tiger Force” mobile app on Wednesday.
According to an official statement, while appreciating the digital approach of the team in the battle against the novel COVID-19, PM approved the launch of the mobile application.
The statement further said PM Imran met with Special Assistant on Youth Affairs Usman Dar who briefed the premier on how digital technology can contribute to the effective functioning of the Tiger Force across the country.
Following this, the Prime Minister permitted the launch of the Tiger Force application which will contain the feature for geo-tagging that will help in the smooth running of the team, the statement read. The prime minister himself will launch the application nation-wide soon, it added.
Stressing that the best facilities should be provided to the Tiger Force as they fight against the COVID-19, PM said that young people are an asset to the country, therefore, they should be given full opportunity of national service.
“Violators of SOPs imposed to limit the spread of the COVID-19 must be identified and the action should be taken on the spot,” the prime minister reiterated.
Earlier in March, PM Imran had announced the launch of the youth force labeled “Corona Relief Tigers” to lead the fight against the coronavirus in Pakistan.
“We are calling upon all volunteers to help us in the fight against coronavirus,” the premier had said during a special briefing to the media.
Earlier this month, the Ministry of Information Technology had developed an application “COVID-19 Gov PK” in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
According to a government official, the app, accessible at both iOS and Android stores, was prepared by the National Information Technology Board (NITB).
The official further said that the application will give awareness to people about all the actions to be taken for the avoidance of coronavirus hazards.
The app initially contained four major different features such as dashboard, giving that the current status of COVID-19; alarms, reminding to maintain personal hygiene; a chatbot for awareness and the World Health Organization (WHO) video tutorials.
