PM Imran expresses grief over Mufti Naeem’s death

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan and senior Pakistani politician have expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned religious scholar Mufti Mohammed Naeem.
The Prime Minister in his condolence messages prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with equanimity.

In a tweet, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif called Mufti Naeem’s death “terrible news”.
“The nation has lost a distinguished religious scholar whose services for the promotion of Islamic education will continue to be remembered for a long time. My heartfelt condolences to his family & students. May Allah rest his soul in peace,” he added.

Information Shibli Faraz said Mufti Naeem was one of the “top religious guides of this country”.

Mufti Naeem’s passing away is a sad news. He was one of the top religious guides of this country. His absence will be felt for a very long time.

In a statement, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail expressed his grief over Mufti Naeem’s death. “He dedicated his whole life to teaching Islam and made Jamia Binoria a world-class institution.”
He had thousands of foreign students, he said, adding that the loss of Mufti Naeem was something that couldn’t be replaced for a long time.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also expressed his grief over the scholar’s demise. Mufti Naeem always helped the government in times of difficulty, he said. The chief minister also offered prayers for the deceased.
Prominent religious scholar and Jamia Binoria International chancellor Mufti Muhammad Naeem passed away in Karachi on Saturday.
According to sources, the prominent cleric was being taken to the hospital when he succumbed to his heart ailment. Mufti Naeem was also a member of the executive committee of Wafaqul Madaris Arabia (WMA) – the largest grouping of seminaries in Pakistan.
According to Naeem’s son Mufti Noman, he was suffering from chronic illness for a long time. He is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters.
