‘Friends’ creator regrets not promoting diversity on sitcom

LOS ANGELES: The famous sitcom series ‘Friends’ creator Marta Kauffman has wished that she would have done more to promote diversity during her career in television.
The statement of the producer came after the streets protest against racial injustices in the United States. Marta Kauffman addressed the issue, admitting that she had done little to bring more diversity on to the screens.
Speaking in an interview,  Kauffman said that she would have made very different decisions when asked what she would have done differently. “I wish I knew then what I know today,” she said.

“Sorry, I just wish I knew then what I know now. I would have made very different decisions. I mean we have always encouraged people of diversity in our company, but I didn’t do enough and now all I can think about is what can I do?”
While Friends is one of the most successful sitcoms of all time, running for 10 seasons between 1994 and 2004, the show had always been criticised for its lack of diversity in the play.
