RAWALPINDI: An eight-year-old domestic worker was allegedly beaten to death by her employers in a private housing society of Rawalpindi after the girl freed a caged parrot.
According to reports, the minor girl Zohra Shah started working for the family a few months ago, taking care of the employer’s own child in Bahria Town area of Rawalpindi.
Zohra Shah was physically abused and tortured after she freed some a caged parrot that angered her employers. The incident occurred on Monday after she was beaten and later left at a hospital where the staff called the police.
Police have been taken the perpetrators into custody who reportedly confessed to beating the minor girl. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the suspects.
A medical autopsy will reveal whether the minor child was sexually abused but police authorities said that she was repeatedly kicked which caused severe bleeding and eventually led to her death. There were also signs of torture and injuries on her ribs including torture marks on her thighs and arms.
The incident has raised alarm on social media as Twitter has been trending with hashtag #JusticeForZohraShah where people are showing their anger and demanding justice for the minor girl.
