KARACHI: Rampant illegal constructions continue unabated in the metropolis under the patronage of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) corrupt officials.
According to sources, the SBCA officers were seen demanding a huge amount of bribe by allowing illegal constructions on a L-80 New Karachi, Sector 11-E, Muslim town, L-888 Sector-11-E.
Sources further said illegal second floor has also been constructed at the National School in Muslim Town’s Sector 11-E in Nagan Chowrangi, while an illegal cooking center is being set up at Scheme 41, Sector 11-H.
Similarly, an illegal bank is being constructed on Scheme 32, Sector 11-H under the patronage of SBCA officers, Najeeb and Ali Mehdi Kazmi, sources added. Sources further informed some men, including Furqan Akhtar, Aamir Ali, Aamir Khan, Kashif Kachho, Ghulam Hussain and Qadri are involve in protecting illegal constructions by receiving millions from constructors.
Sources revealed that the area inspectors have allegedly received over a million rupees per flat in underhand payments to allow the construction.
Sources further said four portions are being constructed in a signal floor at the residential plots. Illegal construction continues despite COVID-19 threats in the metropolis, the laborers are constantly working inner sides of the buildings, sources added.
On the one hand, the lives of the citizens are at risk due to the construction of four and five-storey buildings with low standard and faulty material as well as the accumulated capital of the innocent citizens is also engorged by the contractors and builders.
The area people alleged that despite being informed about the issue the SBCA top officials have not taken any step for resolving the matter.
The area residents have requested the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Chief Justice Sindh High Court and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah to take strict action against these corrupt officers over the issues.
