ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has claimed that the government is consistently confused over the lockdown policy in the country.

While addressing the parliamentary session over the coronavirus situation in the country, Khaqan Khaqan Abbasi said that there was never a lockdown in the country.

Abbasi, while criticizing the incumbent government said that the government initially declared that no lockdown will be imposed. “It was later said that the lockdown was being eased, after which the government announced that it will now impose a smart lockdown,” he said.

“Show me the cabinet’s decision over lockdown. There was never a lockdown in Pakistan,” Abbasi maintained.  He maintained that usually one person is the spokesperson but here every minister is giving his own statements. “Who is the responsible person here?” he asked.

While highlighting the coronavirus situation, Abbasi said that in situations like these, governments first need to promote awareness in the nation.

“When there is a crisis, the foremost thing to do is to have a clear strategy followed by the appointment of a spokesperson.  Why can not they make a decision through a cabinet that every person will be liable to wear masks?” he asked.

He also asserted that no official is willing to sign procurement orders because they are afraid of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). He has been summoned by the bureau in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) case tomorrow.
