President Alvi reviews precautionary steps in Rawalpindi mosques

ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi on Saturday visited different mosques in Rawalpindi and reviewed the precautionary steps to control spread of COVID-19 during prayers and Taraweeh.
According to a press statement, the president visited the Gulshan Dadan Khan mosque, jammia mosque at Murree road, Ghousia Saddar, Moti masjid Liaquat road and Noorani mosque.
On the occasion, the president urged that implementation of preventive steps were must be adopted to control the spread of coronavirus infection. He said that self-discipline should also be observed in mosques during the prayers.
He also appreciated the role of the mosques’ administration and people for observing self-discipline and expressed hope that they will follow the government’s guidance in the future as well.
The President said that the people and mosques administration should follow the 20-point agenda during the month of Ramazan in order to contain the outbreak of the deadly disease.
He said that the administration of mosques should establish committees in order to ensure the implementation of these precautionary measures.
The mosques’ administration and Imams must stay in touch with the district and provincial authorities and fully cooperate with them, he added.
Later, President Dr Arif Alvi in a letter addressed to prayer leaders in the federal capital, expressed his satisfaction over the implementation of 20-point guidelines for prayers and congregation during Ramazan.
The president sent letters to the prayer leaders after visiting Mosques. The president observed that it was a matter of satisfaction that Mosques’ administration ensured implementation of these points, besides taking precautionary measures.
However, the president pointed out the presence of certain elderly people over the age of fifty years during Taraweeh prayers.
The president stressed upon the Mosque committees and other worshippers to persuade these elderly people to help in the joint efforts for controlling Covid-19 pandemic.
